1000 days in a Metro!! [Chapter 1 - Doom and Gloom]

“Good morning...A fiery May morning in Chennai..."

I am in office right now!!

Here everybody, busy with their work and heard that some client visit is going to happen on this Wednesday and me...??
without any work...at my PC, sitting and thinking of how I can waste time till 6.00 PM....And suddenly a flash in my mind....I will start blogging!!

Blogging...!!!!!

You started thinking that, for what this guy is getting paid...Don’t ask me why...Please...

I also don’t know...This is the sixth month since I am with them...in fact into this organization straight from the college...joined in December...Till March 31st it was training...the initial process for any fresher in any organization...I was happy at that time as I got JAVA stream...Those months in training were awesome as we, a batch of 19 members enjoyed a lot. It was total fun...Masti!!!

In the first week of April, we all got separated and 11 of us were sent to some other office in Chennai, where the project allocated to us is going on...Joined the account in the first week of April...and after the on-project training and I was so happy...coz the team with which I was supposed to work was quite good...

Suddenly Kahani mein twist...!!

I was not with that team...totally irritating news...and again some more days without doing anything...

Without doing anything...Ah!!..

After sometime I came to know that I will be in another team...Oh at last it’s finalized.......But what is happening now????

You are wondering now...Am I right?

Yes I am sure that you are wondering...I will tell you what’s going in your mind now...

Why this guy is telling all these rubbish things...Is it right...?

Yes I know...Now a smile is there in your face...

"Answer is this blog...You are going to read it in the following posts...”

Rohit scribbled in his blog named “1000 days in a Metro”.

Totally frustrated and having a mind clouded with doubts and anxiety, Rohit started thinking. He began his journey to the past and all that retracted memories made him humming those lines from the movie Apne. “Baaki sab sapne hote hein, apne toh apne hote hein...."

A simper on his face and he felt to be at the top of the ivory tower. Not sure about his future. Not sure about what’s happening to him. That hazy environment kept him feeling timid. He started thinking about the past. Those vanished great days he had. That made a dent in his feelings.
Through the window near his bay, he saw the sprinkles.

Yes...Rain in Chennai during this time...

He typed again. It was not a great shower but that shower turned him on.

"Those showers in this summer changed me again...

I was doomed...But now I am back. "From melancholy to ecstasy......"

Rohit is getting delighted as the sprinkles hit the window pane beside him. He took his eyes off the monitor and started looking outside. The showers diverted his mind from the trauma he is feeling. It is filled with all the fascinating scenes in Chennai. As one travels around Chennai, he can see a lot of scenes. Some are heart touching, some are funny, some are interesting. Those scenes flashed into his mind and he started typing in the blog.

Road Side Rajnikanths...They are the real heroes…

He smiled.

One who is waiting for any MTC (Metropolitan Transport Corporation) bus in Chennai can see them…They catch the bus only after it starts moving. After chasing the bus for around 10 to 15 feet, they get a small area on the foot board. There they cling to and travel a long distance. This picture, one can see it in the Chennai roads everywhere. It resembles a Tamil action thriller in which the hero is doing super human feats….

It never matters whether the bus is fully crowded or not, these people travel like this only. Yes they are the real heroes....The foot board hardly can accommodate two to three standing people….In MTC buses one can see a number of young school and college guys adhering on to the bus and travelling like this….These road side Rajnikanths are so called because of this dangerous performance.

Rohit smirked and continued.

One day I was standing in the bus stop near to my present habitat, to catch a bus or share auto to the office. There was a big rush in all the buses and I was waiting for a long time. So I started observing the local guys standing there and noticed this common character among these chaps in the way they catch the bus.

I am going to mention these road side Rajnikanths as RRK…lol…

RRK only travels in buses having good rush and that too in a style, always wearing shabby jeans, short shirts or tight t-shirts, freaky caps, chains etc. He gives his bag or book ,if any, to the person sitting near to the entrance and waits for the bus to move….As the bus starts moving he will try to hold on to the iron rod in the way in. Otherwise he just holds on to the window grills near to the entrance. Along with the moving bus he starts sprinting and after sprinting around 10 feet or 12 feet he get into the bus in style…This deed is very dangerous one and also risky, when considering the Chennai traffic. ..But that's RRK!!

Suddenly his mobile starts ringing. The typical Nokia ringtone.

Rohit took the phone and tried to find out who is calling.

”Sure this is from that credit card wala…” He said to himself.

Marketing A Soul

"Murkiness behind, murkiness ahead and murkiness everywhere"

My Orkut profile status remained the same for a long time;a phase when I was sensing a drought and I took a stab to pen even a single sentence. Chennai was like a Blacksmith’s workspace. The sun was more vigorous than ever and I found darkness everywhere. Now also the climate is not so good, the summer is lusty but the creative destitution,I was suffering from is over.

It’s a mere rediscovery in 2008 May when I started penning my first so called Novel -Life in a Metro;giving a picture of all my experiences in this metro city.To a great extent I got inspired from Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone at that time and thus the chapter One of Life in a Metro happened. The novel is still hanging on somewhere in the chapter One. The tight schedule and the itching work environment gave me a lot of pain to write something in English and thus, the episode of writing a novel in English was put on hold. It was then I started blogging in October 2008. The blog, Gulmaal is in Malayalam and I found it easy to convert my thoughts into letters in my mother tongue. I realized the fact that a person can easily express things in their own language. After some months I thought of blogging in English also and registered the name space “Marketing a Soul” with blogger.

By that time, I annexed the art of turning negative energy into positives. Even though I work for a good multinational, the kind of work assigned to me and the repercussions of a recession hit industry and the treatment I got from various people I met across was quite unexpected and unbearable.Frustration hit me like anything and all the frustrations I had, resulted in the reawakening of a writer soul.

And here it happens, the writer soul is moving forward with his new gamble in his life.

Marketing a Soul is born. Marketing a soul, yes, as the name indicates a soul is getting marketed. The thoughts, the creativity, the power of letters and the social responsibilities – all that in my soul are getting marketed through this blog space.
